Buying Steel

Here is the link to the steel channel tubing; this link goes directly to the specs for an 8' piece, but you should be able to redirect yourself to a master list and see how much varying lengths/widths/thicknesses would cost.

    I think the U channels we'd be using would be 1 inch wide with a 1/8" web which I think refers to the thickness of the actual metal. In that case the space of the channel is probably more like 3/4"

    The legs would be only 1/2" for those other dimensions. So shave off 1/2" on either side of the panel as lost to the fram, and then I think the design might need some breathing room. So an inch or so in from the edge of the frame. Just depends on what its doing. I'm worried 1/2" isn't practical...
